Denny Hamlin disqualified at Pocono; Chase Elliott handed win

Long POND, Pa. — NASCAR stripped Denny Hamlin of his win at Pocono Raceway when his No. 11 Toyota unsuccessful inspection and was disqualified, awarding Chase Elliott the Cup Collection victory.

Joe Gibbs Racing had Hamlin’s car or truck and runner-up Kyle Busch’s No. 18 Toyota equally disqualified. Hamlin missing his report seventh victory at Pocono and his 3rd gain of the year. Busch led a race-high 63 laps.

The penalties can be appealed and the two Toyotas have been despatched to NASCAR’s investigate and advancement center in North Carolina.

“There was some difficulties found that have an effect on aero in the vehicle,” NASCAR Cup Sequence managing director Brad Moran reported. “There really was no purpose why there was some substance that was someplace it should not have been. And that does mainly arrive down to a DQ.”
